Houston’s leading mentoring organization honors local influencers at 3rd annual Royal Tea Fundraiser

April 3, 2017 (Houston, Texas)-  BEAUTY Mentoring is hosting their 3rd annual Royal High Tea fundraiser benefiting young girls between the ages of 9-18 in Houston and surrounding areas.  Proceeds from this upscale event are used to further mentoring programs, education, scholarships, and community outreach activities in the Greater Houston Area. BEAUTY Mentoring has made an impact on the lives of 1,000 girls in the City of Houston. In addition to raising funds, the Royal Tea will also raise awareness to many of the pressing issues teen girls face today.

 

This event will take place Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the beautiful Buffalo Soldiers Museum. Last year, BEAUTY Mentoring was honored with a personal proclamation by Mayor Sylvester Turner for their commitment to serving and mentoring teen girls in our community. This year, First Daughter of Houston, Ashley Turner is serving as the Co-Chair for the Royal High Tea Event. Her efforts in conjunction with BEAUTY Mentoring’s Founder, Sherrell Ogletree has allowed for an exciting program which will celebrate the achievements of 8 honorees.This year’s honorees include:

  • CleRenda McGrady, wife to former NBA All-Star Tracy McGray founder of The PUSH Project
  • Alan Rosen Precinct 1 Constable
  • Kam & Niya who are 10 year old authors and kidpreneurs and were recently featured on the hit daytime show “The Real”
  • Nakia Cooper  Co-Founder of Sister 2 Sistah Mentoring Organization
  • Ebone Stowers Co-Founder and Director of Youth Development at Texas Woman’s Empowerment Foundation
  • JJ Simons former radio talk show host and founder of I’m Me Foundation

Each honoree has a host of achievements from providing job training to students of HBCU’s to activating community-related events for the youth. Founder of BEAUTY Mentoring, Sherrell Ogletree quotes, “I am elated to have such amazing community leaders modeling the way to success for our girls as our 2017 honorees,  We are proud to have our mentees honor the hard work and dedication that each honoree exudes!”.

Guests will also be able to hear expressions by Aventer Gray of John Gray Ministries, Mayor Sylvester Turner, and several surprise guests. The afternoon will be led by Mistress of Ceremony and Award Winning Golfer, Maggie Noel.

B.E.A.U.T.Y. was founded in 2013 by Sherrell Ogletree, who dreamed of a program that allowed young ladies to become their best selves regardless of their past or present struggles. Sherrell has worked as a pediatric nurse for 10  years and currently holds a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has dedicated her life to encouraging and inspiring teen girls. She is passionate about making a positive impact on girls lives! The young ladies of B.E.A.U.T.Y. are diverse in ethnicity, age, social class, and education history. The program nurtures their dreams, believes in their visions, and motivate them to become vibrant future leaders through principles such as integrity, humility, and honesty. B.E.A.U.T.Y. encourages them to be beautiful from within and strive to live a better life from every angle.
