Foodies Gear Up for 2016 HOUSTON RESTAURANT WEEKS

Eat your way thru philanthropy!

It’s back and it’s better! August 1st kicks off the favorite month of the year for Houston Foodies! Houston Restaurant Weeks,  or #HRW, is the largest annual fundraiser for America’s largest food bank. Planned by volunteers, HRW donates 100% of the funds raised to the Houston Food Bank. Participating restaurants make donations to the Food Bank based upon how many brunches, lunches and dinners they sell during the event.

Some of your favorites will be participating such as

Brennan’s of Houston

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill

III Forks Prime Steakhouse

And MORE!

A lot of these restaurants are doing Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, same as previous years! Its a foodies paradise especially if you are on a budget. We normally don’t look for anything in return when we give back, however we get so much more. The satisfaction of knowing our meal provided multiple meals for those in need & we literally get satisfied by the wonderful courses we indulge in. So have a cheat month by visiting some really cool restaurants! Make every Friday for the next month DATE NIGHT and donate to the Houston food bank!

About the Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank is a solution to hunger in times of need. America’s largest and nationally recognized as Feeding America’s ‘Food Bank of the Year,’ the Food Bank distributes 59 million nutritious meals through its network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief charities in southeast Texas, feeding 800,000 individuals each year.

Fresh produce, meat and nonperishables are distributed from the warehouse at 535 Portwall, and meals for kids are prepared and distributed from Keegan Center, a 15,000 square-foot industrial kitchen. Additional community services include nutrition education, school-based programs, food stamp applications and hands-on job training. Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need.

The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Houston Restaurant Weeks was established in 2003 by Cleverley Stone, host of “The Cleverley Show,” a food talk radio program on CBS Sports Radio 650/KIKK-AM in Houston, Texas and food segment contributor to Houston’s Fox 26 Morning News for the past eight and one half years. To date, HRW has raised over $7.6 million to fight hunger in Houston, and has provided almost 23 million meals to neighbors in need through the Houston Food Bank. The HRW team of volunteers donate their time and resources to produce the event so that 100% of the donations raised go directly to the Houston Food Bank.
