Today, we are celebrating 15 years of women’s health and fitness. September 28, 2016, an estimated 50,000-80,000 women of all ages will participate in local health and fitness events at more than 500 community locations across the country as part of the 15th Annual National Women’s Health & Fitness Day. This day was inaugurated in 2002 by The Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information professionals. In addition to the Women’s Health & Fitness Day event, other HIRC programs include Family Health & Fitness Day USA, always held on the last Saturday in September; the annual National Health Information Awards, the nation’s largest awards programs for consumer health information and resources; and the Digital Health Awards.
Although we have these resources at our fingertips, we tend to let society sway us to think otherwise about health and fitness. It’s amazing that women of all ages still think that healthy is a look, attitude, shape, or size. Health is just as much what you see on the inside as well. We have lost plenty of fit/healthy “Looking” women to heart disease, cancer, tumors, and more. So today:
- Take the time today to learn your body.
- Set appointments to visit your PCP or OBGYN if its been over a year.
- Write out a fitness plan and set goals to stick with it.
- Look for healthier choices when you grocery shop, and explore healthier meals.
- START TODAY! Start right now on the NEW YEAR, NEW YOU.
But that doesn’t stop us from fighting to promote the healthiest us possible. Check out what one woman has been doing to keep America healthy! Featuring EPICuisines
